Covid Stimulus Watch Cited in New York Times
By Phil Mattera
An excellent article in the New York Times on federal aid to wealthy hospital systems cites data compiled for Covid Stimulus Watch.
The data is our compilation of awards from two programs – the Provider Relief Fund General Distribution and the Provider Relief Fund COVID-19 High Impact Payments – to thousands of hospitals around the country. We matched the hospitals named in the individual awards to their parent health system and tallied the results. The totals were used in preparing the parent summary pages for the health systems in Covid Stimulus Watch. The summary page for the general distribution awards is here, and the one for the high-impact awards is here.
Below is a list of the health systems that received a combined $100 million or more from the two programs. You can find details on the awards that make up these totals by going to the Covid Stimulus Watch search page linked above and choosing the parent name from the Option 1 dropdown or entering it in the Option 2 search box.
NOTE: These totals were revised on May 31, 2020 to reflect additional hospital-parent links found as well as corrections to the HHS data provided by RWJ Barnabas for its entries.
