We’ve been spending a lot of time on the Provider Relief Fund awards data released by the Department of Health and Human Services. Focusing on those awards worth $500,000 or more, we have matched the individual hospitals listed in the data to their parent health systems, most of which are non-profits.

This process was made more challenging by the fact that HHS posted two revisions of the data. We now have the most recent award amounts and have added matches to the larger health systems. We also have the awards from the separate Provider Relief Fund COVID-19 High-Impact Payments given to hospitals that treated a large number of coronavirus patients.

We have also added all awards of $500,000 or more from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. We have linked the various campuses of state college and university systems to their parent entity.

Finally, we have added the full list of Payroll Support Program awards by the Treasury Department, both for the major airlines and smaller air carriers and charter jet companies.

And on top of all that, we continue to collect information on Paycheck Protection Program awards disclosed by publicly traded companies in their SEC filings.
